Free Internet Security Software

Where do you go for free Internet security software? Well, there are many places but you must remember that you get what you pay for. Oh, that's right, you're not paying for it because it's FREE. Well, anyway, free tools can be useful sometimes so I'm creating a directory of tools that I've used and that I'm confident you can use confidently. (Confidentially speaking.)

Hold it, hold it. I really can't let you just start downloading free stuff without at least telling you that you most definitely need a full version Internet security suite as soon as possible. In today's malware-ridden Internet, you've got to have the best-of-the-best going for you or you'll get stomped eventually.

But that said, one of the misunderstood realities of the anti-malware industry is that NONE of them will rid you of every imaginable threat at all times. They can't. There's not enough of them to keep up with the malware being written and modified every minute of every day.

No matter what you hear about "cloud technology", "advanced heuristics", or "patented whoop-te-doos", it's just not going to happen. We need antivirus companies and we need them to keep fighting but sometimes you'll find that "Joe's Computer Bug Spray" might find and kill the one roach that SuperBigAntiMalwareCompany's top-shelf product won't even detect.

Most free Internet security products are free because they are a form of advertising. There will almost always be an offer or reminder to "upgrade to the full version". And that's a great idea! So, download some free products and try them out just to get a feel for them and then get a top-rated security suite installed pronto!
